Roses are quintessentially Gothic, but we wanted to take it further and the best way to do that is to make them grey. This works for all kinds of reasons: they could be part of the statuary, or perhaps vampires sucked all the life out of them. Or they're being viewed under moonlight. Or maybe they're ghost roses — after all, they are "eternal," and ghosts need something suitably romantic for Ghost Valentine's Day (only marginally more depressing than the living version). Regardless, we think you'll agree that the overlapping pattern of roses and thorny stems in shadowy variations of grey is both elegant and badass. The few points of color on the sock are a dusky pink to evoke what these roses might have looked like while they were still experiencing the blush of life or whatever. Neat.
